The following is our comprehensive list of courses. All courses are open to any student who has completed the prerequisites for that course. Please see the Schedule of Courses on our website for information on start dates, instructors, required books and materials, and other details.
Most of our courses are live, real-time distance learning classes. Each course includes a variety of learning experiences such as live webinars and discussions, directed study, experiential exercises, self-assessment, group collaboration, practical problem-solving, and individual mentoring. While most courses are structured as distance learning experiences, students engage with each other and with their instructors throughout the course. This method combines the community and teacher contact of a classroom education with the flexibility and cost-effectiveness of distance learning.
The Intensive Case Study courses are in-person weekend seminars in various locations.
Students planning to study toward certification should consult the Certificate Program Requirements and Academy staff for further assistance in planning their course of study.
Our courses do not in themselves confer any license or certification to practice, and we do not give medical advice.

BEGINNER AND ACUTE CARE COURSES
Foundations of Classical Homeopathy I
This introduction to classical homeopathy lays the groundwork for all of the Academy’s other courses. Homeopathic philosophy and practice are introduced with fundamental concepts such as vitalism, health and disease, acute and chronic illness, and the meaning of symptoms. Materia medica study begins with common remedies, while case examples illustrate the homeopathic method. The course also provides an overview of homeopathy today including how remedies are made, current issues in research, and resources for further engagement.
Prerequisite: none. All are welcome in this course. Even students with some previous experience are advised to take this course as an orientation to their further study.

Tissue Cell Salts
Schussler’s twelve “cell salts” are gentle mineral remedies whose relation to homeopathy has been much debated but whose effectiveness is clear. Considered akin to nutritional elements because they appear as constituents in living cells, the cell salts constitute a therapeutic system in themselves. They can be used at home for a wide variety of ailments, and also are often used alongside professional homeopathic care. For both home caregivers and homeopathic professionals, this course provides the knowledge to apply Schussler’s “Biochemic Method” effectively.

Homeopathic Philosophy I
Homeopathic philosophy is about both theory and practice. It describes how homeopaths think as well as what they do and why. A sound understanding of philosophy is perhaps the single most important factor for success in homeopathy: when one understands the principles, one can handle virtually any event. Drawing on Samuel Hahnemann’s Organon of Medicine and other masterworks in homeopathic philosophy, this course provides an introduction to the major concepts that describe dynamic vital processes such as healthy functioning, disease, and healing.
Prerequisite: Foundations I
Credit hours: 35
Duration: 8 weeks
Tuition: $349
Materia Medica I
Understanding remedies is an art in itself. In order to transcend “this remedy for that condition” prescribing, we have to grasp each remedy in all its complexity. This course introduces some of the most commonly needed remedies in our materia medica, not only providing knowledge of the remedies themselves, but also demonstrating how to study remedies effectively. Case examples illustrate remedies in a variety of contexts.
Prerequisite: Foundations I
Credit hours: 35
Duration: 8 weeks

Clinical Methods I
The homeopathic method is consistent and predictable in both acute and chronic prescribing. It follows a series of reliable steps that build upon each other. Solid clinical skills depend on mastery of each step and understanding of how the steps interact with each other. This course introduces the steps in the homeopathic process and provides hands-on practice. Emphasis is on case taking and case analysis using both acute and chronic case examples.
Prerequisite: Foundations I
Credit hours: 35

Focus is on the United States, with references to homeopathy around the world.
